Sept 1 2009 - GMHA Meeting

Approval of Agenda: Motion - to Adopt the Agenda -  Bob/Scott    CARRIED

 

Approval of Minutes from August 18th board meeting -  A time change for ice by Greg for March 7th  2-5 not 2-4pm.       

Motion- to accept agenda with the noted change    Jeff/Greg    CARRIED

 

 

Board Position - Bob Thirlwall has submitted his application for the vacant board position, no other applications have been turned in.

 

Atom girls meeting

There will not be an Atom Girls Team

The  parents that attended the scheduled meeting are fine with the girls playing with boys.

As of today 10 girls are now registered for Atom

 

Registration

Number of registered skaters as of today:   Beginners - 20, Tyke- 5, Novice- 21, Atom- 37, Peewee- 22, Bantam- 26, Midget- 30, Girl Midgets - 9

 

No decision has been decided from the Dave Waller foundation at this time regarding Beginners Hockey.

Tyke team - numbers are too small for a team at this time, will leave it for now as their season only begins in Oct.

Novice - 2 teams

Atoms - 3 teams -  A request  to hold off on how the teams should be divided until  coaches could be contacted was not accepted.  A decision must be made immediately as teams must be registered so schedules can be completed  for the upcoming season. 

 

Motion - for 1 Atom rep team  & 2 Atom house league teams    Bob Pearson/Ben Salomons             6/yes    6/no   1/abstain     NOT CARRIED

 

A decision was made that 4 board members with a conflict of interest should abstain from voting

 

New Motion - for 1 Atom rep team, 1 Atom A/E team and 1 Atom House League team

Marilyn/Jeff       Yes/6     No/3   CARRIED

 

Sandy will be registering an Atom A/E team

 

Peewee- 2 teams

Bantam - 2 teams

Girls Midget- 1 team (intermediate)

Midget -  2 teams

 

Ice scheduling will have to be adjusted to accommodate  team changes

 

 

Fund Raising -  Debbie has agreed to take over the responsibilities for the Nevada

 

 

Volunteer Fee -

The future of Bingos will be looked into further- profitability,  how many bingos can a volunteer be allowed to do?

Tim Hamilton  will be in contact with April to make sure there are only 4volunteers per bingo.

 

Time Keepers must be registered with Glencoe Minor Hockey

 

Question regarding a player living outside the boundary -  Player must register with West Lorne but can be released back to GMHA by West Lorne if room cannot be made for him.  West Lorne has  1 team of 19 players registered for  his level for the upcoming season.

Meeting at Scott Purbrick’s  home regarding Hockey clothing line

 

Concern with Beginner Registration

A concern was brought up regarding beginners and the possibility of "free hockey" for the coming season  - are there tyke age kids coming back and playing beginners for a second time to take advantage of the "free hockey"

The above concern will be looked into
