GMHA Meeting Dec 14th 2009

Registration for 2009 - 3 still remain outstanding, they must be paid by the end of Dec. or they will not be allowed  on the ice.

 

Juvenile Teams - A cost comparison break down was handed in by a board member.  The need to have the older teams pay more for registration was discussed and will be looked into further  when the board reviews registration for 2010-2011.  Board members have been asked to bring their ideas to the Jan. meeting.

 

Guest- would like the board to write a letter to OMHA to have her son removed from the Peewee A roster so he can be placed on the Bantam LL roster.  Will be looked into

 

 

LEAGUE REPORTS

 

Shamrock Report - Cindy Staels

-OMHA has approved both the midget “A” and Novice “A” teams request to drop to a “DD” in OMHA  play downs.

-Jan. 2, 2010 play down meeting, looking for 3 people to attend this meeting (Cindy, Greg and Phil)

-Please make sure all coaches have reviewed their OMHA rosters

-Jan 9th Trainer clinic being held in St. Thomas

-Jan. 3, 2010 Initiation program Super Festival at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.  Open to all players under 8 yrs of age.  Includes on and off ice activities.  Cost $10.00

-Midget all Star Game in  Belmont,  Glencoe has been asked to send 2 major midgets for the major game and 1 15yr old for the minor midget game.  Game in Belmont for Minor Midgets is Wed. Jan 6th @ 7pm.  Game in Belmont for Major Midgets is Wed. Jan 6th @ 9pm.  Coaches have been notified via email.

-Centers who do not re-schedule games will be fined

-Centers with dry land training practices must contact OMHA for a separate Insurance form.

 

 

Tri-County Report - Bob Pearson

-Missing game sheets from Centers still a problem.  This creates a problem of stats not being kept up to date.

-Wallaceburg Bantam team may be folding - Team is having problems, no rostered goalie and 3rd coach has resigned

-Greg has submitted to Bob the ice schedule for the potential playoff games.

-Playoff formula has been set.  Centers are to provide Jeff Parker with the correct number of home game times to play the initial round of playoffs.

-Only the top grouping plays a best of three series between the first and second place teams from the initial playoff rounds.  The consolation round does not have a best of three series and only the top place finisher wins the consolation grouping.  There is no banner for the consolation winner.  Trophies awarded to the team members of the winner.  Winner will receive a team banner as well as the runner up in the top grouping plus the consolation group winner.

-Rosters should have been completed by Dec 1st.  Teams without rosters cannot participate in tournaments and playoffs.

-Players of teams without rosters are not insured.

-Changes to Roster deadline Jan 10th.  Changes to AP roster deadline Jan 15th

-Bothwell, Dresden and Ridgetown all report they have open spots in upcoming tournaments

 

 

Girls Report - Bob Thirlwall

-7 game suspension player has completed all her games.

-Proposed date for CWHL is Sat. Feb 6th, hoping for mid to late afternoon game and would like to see an Intermediate and possibly an Atom girls game before.

-Teams requested have local players on them, this would encourage local fans

-approval for budget will be needed to spend $$

-A budget spending could be provided for next week based on the 2009 game

-If we get a reasonable gate, could have potential profit of $500-$2000

-the Int. Girls team will attend the Provincial Playdown Tournament in Brampton Feb 19-21

-Girls team is in 3rd place in their pool @ 6-2-0

 

Referee in Chief

-Spread Sheet submitted to keep track of Timekeepers, games, payment.. etc.

- Tim has created a “Timekeeper Agreement”   to be filled out by timekeepers, board will review

-Revenue Canada shows that children under 14 may not be employed, Tim will look further into this and will advise.  Timekeepers effected will be notified when a final decision is made.

-Timekeepers rate of pay will be discussed at the budget meeting for the 2010-2011 season

General Account- $70 541.64

Bingo- $11 899.18

Term- $68 824.91

 

-should our Bingo volunteer money be placed in a separate account

-Balancing well so far, must continue to generate more money to cover our monthly expenses.

-Bantam Shamrock team looking for their reimbursement for the Glencoe Tournament of $166.00

 

Clinics

-Shooting Clinic Jan 24th and 31st at 9:00am for the Novice and Atom age groups.  This clinic will be run by Rick Martin from London

-Can clinics be opened up to players outside of GMHA?  Tim will be looking into it

 

Sponsorship

-Money has been received from Dr. and Mrs. Parnell for the Juvenile team

-Reg Lovell Legion $450 for the Peewee A team

-Preferred Insurance $100 donation

Tournament Convenor

-Feb 19-21 tournament

            - Novice Division will be filled by weeks end, waiting on a few more cheques

            - Atom Division is full, all teams have paid except Glencoe

            -Peewee Division is full, all teams have paid except Glencoe

-Tyke Fun Day is almost full, 7 teams registered so far

-will be looking into donations from local businesses for trophies

-will be speaking with coaching staff to see if a raffle table can be organized

Risk Management

 

no report.....

 

-A Coaches Survey has been put together by some teams who will be handing them out to their parents.

 

Ways and Means

-Christmas Gift Card Fundraiser was a disappointment, we made just over $525 with less than 15 orders.

-As of today we have made $1604.48 since our first order with Fundscrip in May.

-Current card inventory - $11 078.50

-deposit to be made tomorrow $2335.00

-Hockey Dream Draw Tickets - 33% sold and returned, anyone who is having trouble selling them please turn them back in as we can try to get them sold at the gate.

 

 

Ice Schedule

-Playoffs will be starting within the next month

-Shamrock season ends Jan 17th, Local League Jan 30th

-Dates required by the local league have been submitted

-Waiting on the Shamrock division

-A proposed schedule for 2010-2011 has been created and sent to all coaches with only 4 responses

-Date for a proposed ice schedule for the coming year will need to be finalized by Feb.

 

Equipment  and Purchasing

-Clothing has been delivered and is being handed out, great response from parents and kids

-Sales $8000.00 profit not finalized yet, may be $1000 - 1500

-Mug sales doing well

-Socks still available

 

-Caravan Kids and Maple Lodge Farms- we are looking for a team picture to send to them to thank  them, this needs to be done  immediately.

 

 

Hockey pictures will be in before Christmas

 

Web site  team photos-  Each coach will be asked permission to have their team photo posted.

 

 

Amalgamation Update

Mt. Brydges is not interested at this time, as amalgamating would not make them an "A" center.
