GMHA Meeting Jan. 18/11

Minutes of the Dec 21/10 meeting.  No changes.  Motion to accept minutes, Bob Thirlwall, 2nd Jeff CARRIED.

 

No business from last meeting minutes.

 

Protest by Lambton Shores Juvenile Team.

-          Glencoe won 1-0 in overtime.

-          Linesman on the ice had brothers on the Glencoe Juvenile team is the reason for the protest.

-          Shawn Mooser the ref in chief, found out about this game on the Friday and the game was to be played on the Saturday night.

-          He had a lot of problems trying to find refs on such a short notice and went with the two that did the game.

-          These 2 refs have done juvenile games in the past.

-          There was an icing call that was debated.

-          The linesman went to the referee (who was an out of town ref) to confirm if that was the right call and the ref agreed that it was a good icing call.

-          $100 for GMHA to defend against the protest.

-          Cindy is going to get a hold of the ref from St Thomas who did the game to get more information.

 

Treasurers Report

 

Bingo account up approx $4,000 from same time last year.

Nevada account up approx $7,000 from same time last year.

General account up about $3,000 from same time last year.

There is an $11,000 cheque to come out for ice.

Brian has received another $4,000 in registration

Brian is concerned about the gate revenue.  Down approx $6,000 from same time last year.

Bingo revenue is down $2,500 from last year same time.

Nevada revenue is down $4,000 from last year same time.

Shopping cards revenue is down $20,000 from last year same time.

 

Ref and time keeper expense is down $8,000

Ice expense is down $7,000 both from same time last year

Should be close to a breakeven year.

There isn’t enough money coming in form gate to cover the cost of refs and time keepers.  Darryl is having to dip into the float.

There was also no gate at the Novice/atom/peewee LL tournament.

Ice Report – Marilyn

            Lots of emails coming in. 

            LL scheduling meeting for playoffs Jan 31st.

            Girl’s playoff scheduling meeting Feb 1st.

 

Registration

            - Sandy, Scott, Cheryl and Bob met January 14th and 17th.

- Cost of running a LL team and a Rep team during the regular season is about the same.

            - Looked at a lot of different centres.

            - 2 proposals have been made

            - Proposal 1, same as last year.

- proposal 2, includes buying 2 tickets to the jersey dance $10 each, $25 cheque refunded to families who attend the AGM, cash calenders 5 @ $10 each along with the registration.

            - Still be able to do a bingo 1/child now @ $100 then reduced after that.

- 1st registration date, possibly Feb 20th then Mar 5th along with registration at the yearend banquet. 

            - Late charge of $75/player after April 30th.

            - Concerns about what happens with higher costs coming such as ice costs.

LEAGUE REPORTS

 

Shamrock/OMHA Cindy

-          $300 cheque for Bartending at Glencoe Fair.

-          $150 refund for tournament cancelled.

-          There are fines for missing game sheets.  We have none at this time.

-          Billed Lambton Shores $102 for missing Midget game.

-          League games have to be done by Feb 6.

-          Travel permit was done for the Novice Rep team to attend International Silver Stick in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

 

LL Report Cheryl/Sandy

-          Roster changes by Jan 10th

-          AP roster changes by Jan 15th.

-          AP players must be on roster.

-          Keep previous 2 game sheets and roster with team at all times.

-          Playoffs will all be top 5 and bottom 5 except Midget.

-          Playoffs must be done by March break

-          From the top 5, top two will play a best 2 out of 3

-          January 31st is the playoff scheduling meeting.  Need ice times for scheduling meeting.

-          $100 fine if a team has no representative there.

-          2 games will be played in 1 day if needed.

-          February 8th is next meeting.

-          No LL league games to reschedule.

-          1 missing game sheet found.

 

Girls Report

-          Parkhill game a Glencoe player received a GM21 with a 2 game suspension.  22 minutes in minor penalties.  Coach is ok for next game.

-          2 games left in league play.

-          Provincials are February 18th.  All teams qualify.

-          Request for Board to pay for registration, similar costs to OMHA play downs for boys.

 

Equipment

-          Problems with clothing orders.

 

Clinics Eddie

-          Had Mike Rivard in for a shooting clinic for 2 Sundays in January.  Good turn out 23 kids signed up.

 

Guest Bob Pearson

-          People having problems getting on website.

-          Still having problems with the server coming unhooked.  Creating problems.

-          Bob is unable to run the website next year.  Will finish this year but asked to have someone else run it next year.

 

Sponsorship Cheryl

-          Haven’t received money from OMHA for Maple Lodge and Caravan Kids sponsorship yet.

-          A couple of local sponsors to track down yet.

 

Tournaments Jeff

-          Tyke fun day February 5th.

-          5 teams so far and want to have 8.

-          Dave Waller committee may come out to help out with tournament.

 

NEW BUSINESS

-          OMHA special AGM is January 23rd.

-          Kids can try out for AAA team and if they don’t make the team, they can tryout for an AA or A team.

-          Glencoe may have a meeting with Ridgetown, West Lorne, Bothwell, Dresden after the OMHA AGM.

-          Need to send as many people as we votes.

 

-          Year end Banquet April 15th.

-          Committee Bob Thirlwall, Rachelle Johnson, Cheryl Murray, Cindy Staels, Jeff Tidball.

-          Going to make a CD.  Need to ask coaches to get parents to send in pictures.

-          Will ask them also who wants a copy of CD.

-          Need to get awards ready.

-          Angus Ramsey, do we need to pick one this year?  Picked by past winners.

 

-          Jersey Dance Date, November 12th

-          Snakebite is booked for band.

 

-          Atom rep team wants to use jerseys for a 3 on 3 tournament.

 

-          Ice, GMHA needs to be a part of the conversations of when the ice goes in.

 

-          Atom Rep team has asked to use their jerseys for an up coming 3 on 3 tournament.  Approved by board.
