OMHA REPORT Craig Lane

Region 1 A has its boundaries defined on Google earth.  You type in the address and it will tell you what centre you belong to.  Bothwell has its boundaries defined since they fall into this area.

Craig commented that Glencoe does not have defined boundaries as of yet since we have not signed off on them.

Chatham & Tilbury have amalgamated and going to be re-named Kent Hockey.  To-date they have 186 kids registered and they were expecting 265 kids.  Kent Hockey has lost 50 kids to the NRP rule to mainly South Point (Wheatly-Leamington)

OMHA REPORT Diane Sinclair

OMHA has 3 courses available in Chatham

Aug  18th trainer refresher course

Sept 25th Level 1 trainer

Sept 27th PRS

All courses at St. Clair College

 Instructor Ron Corstine 519-436-0739

Level 1 is not recommended for on-line for the following reasons

No manual

No concussion card

No pin

No trainer’s card

No medication card

It is double the price and can be twice the amount of time to take.  The online training is supported by Hockey Canada not OMHA.

Any completion of a online course must be submitted to your OMHA rep so it is registered

0 tolerance for head contact this year.

Incidental contact 2 min minor

Intentional results in a double minor or a major or a match depending on severity, which is up ref’s discretion.

It will be coded HC

OMHA is willing to send out a trainer instructor to talk about concussions to team at no cost we just have to let Diane Sinclair know.

The Registar has to check the suspension list all suspensions are carried over from previous year even if the player goes to shamrock from tri-county.  She recommended that 09-10 and 10-11 seasons to make sure they are removed from the suspension list.

REGISTRATIONS- JOHN RYAN

Discussion about kids not playing this year.  There have been some calls about releases.  It was commented that it needs to be discussed before they are released.  The president or vices have the authority to sign releases.  They must be registered with GMHA  before they can be released to try out at other team levels.

Scott Purbrick arrived 7:40

These are the numbers registered to date.   Some are moving to different centres for all-girls teams.  Some are trying out for higher levels of hockey.  Some players are to be registered yet.

It was decided by the board that they will not ice a Novice A team, due to lack of players and skill level to complete a team at a competitive level.

Jeff will re-schedule ice times and possibly move tyke practice to the weekend to fill in the Novice A game time slot.  Novice A tryout ice time will be switched to a Novice practice.  Jeff will re-organize the ice schedule to distribute.  The total cost of the ice in Strathroy will be $3285.

There will a another brief directors meeting Sept. 6, 7:00 pm at the horizon’s room
